SHOULD I TURN IT OFF?

Sometime late in June 2020, a story began to circulate about the spread of coronavirus and its relationship with air conditioners.  Over the next several days, multiple “experts” began to advocate turning off your air conditioning system to help slow the spread of the coronavirus.  So much so, that now, a quick search on your favorite search engine will give pages and pages of stories discussing the “no AC option” as a COVID-19 deterrent.  We’re not ones to argue with the experts, but we know that no AC just isn’t an option for most people in our coverage area.  Don’t take my word for it, have a look at this mall that turned off the A/C.  If you agree with us, we have an option you just might like…

WHERE ARE THE “EXPERTS” ON THIS ONE??

I’m a little surprised by the lack of coverage on ionizers as an option, because it seems like “stay home, turn off your A/C, wash your hands and wear a mask” is the only set of options we’re being given from the very people we would expect an answer from…

Coronavirus samples have been made available for testing, and at least one brand of ionizer has been proven effective against most known microbes and viruses – including coronavirus!

Here is a statement from the manufacturer regarding the test results.

This test… was designed to mimic ionization conditions like that of a commercial aircraft’s fuselage. Based on viral titrations, it was determined that at 10 minutes, 84.2% of the virus was inactivated. At 15 minutes, 92.6% of the virus was inactivated, and at 30 minutes, 99.4% of the virus was inactivated.

We’re here to suggest that rather than shutting down your air conditioner, how about installing a device that makes the indoor environment inhospitable to a whole host of microscopic bad guys, including COVID-19?

In other words, you are breathing ions every time you step outside or open a window, so it’s a fairly logical jump to believe that our bodies are already equipped to handle ions.

What’s not logical is to turn off your A/C as a COVID-19 response, simply because our air-conditioned structures and furniture are designed to be in a climate controlled environment.  Remove that climate control, and humidity will destroy our belongings, sooner rather than later.
